DOT Drug Testing & Alcohol Screening
CMV drivers may be subject to several types of drug testing which include: Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Return-to-Duty, Follow-up, Pre-employment, and Random testing. Companies must randomly test drivers at a minimum annual percentage of:
- Drugs: 50% of the average # of drivers
- Alcohol: 10% of the average # of drivers
DOT drug testing consists of a urine specimen collection. Five illicit drug families are tested for including: Cocaine, Opiates, Marijuana, Amphetamines, and Phencyclidine. Alcohol screening consists of utilization of an Alcohol Screening Device that tests saliva for alcohol concentration.
Dr. Benson & Dr. Tinkham are certified DOT Specimen Collectors and are officially recognized to perform specimen collection services as prescribed by federal guidelines of 49 CFR Part 40.
Dr. Benson & Dr. Tinkham are certified to be a Screening Test Technician and are officially recognized to perform initial alcohol screenings using a non-evidential Alcohol Screening Device.
